3rd SOMAPHON FESTIVAL
IN-BETWEEN
BODY // CITY // SOUND
11-19 SEPTEMBER 2026

SOMAPHON is Weimar’s festival for sound, body and interaction in public space. It takes the city as its artistic point of departure, opening it up to encounters with international voices in sound art and bodywork. Through performances, concerts, workshops, talks and shared listening situations, the festival reveals that listening is far more than acoustic perception: it is a bodily, social and political practice.
From 11 to 19 September 2026, the third edition, titled IN-BETWEEN: BODY / CITY / SOUND, invites audiences to explore transitions and in-between spaces – between body and technology, everyday life and art, public space and personal perception, sound and music. Gallery EIGENHEIM in Weimarhallenpark, Stéphane-Hessel-Platz, Kulturzentrum mon ami and the Sendehalle become places for listening, participation, exchange and movement.
The programme ranges from electromagnetic sound traces and field recordings to radio experiments, dance and Butoh, experimental music, club culture and participatory performances. SOMAPHON brings art not only to the stage, but into the city and into shared experience. As an open space of resonance, the festival welcomes everyone, regardless of age, experience or educational background. Visitors are invited to sharpen their senses, discover new perspectives and experience Weimar in unconventional ways.
