Body Resonance based on organic Movement and Butoh

"Body Resonance based on organic Movement and Butoh" is a workshop led by Yumiko Yoshioka. Her personal approach to bodywork combines Butoh practice with impulses from Noguchi Taiso gymnastics and various other Asian training methods. It prepares the body to receive and transmit dance and creation.

The work begins from the idea that body, soul and world are made of vibrational waves, continually producing resonances like echoes. Participants tune towards images, feelings and sensations by first shaking off unnecessary tension. Yoshioka calls this process neutralisation: moving toward a close-to-zero state, clearing away rust and refining the body as an antenna for deeper layers of experience. Through transformation and concentration in dancing, habitual forms can loosen and resonant memories may surface. It is an attentive practice in which physical form opens into changing qualities of presence.

Yoshioka is a dancer, choreographer, teacher and artistic director, born in Tokyo in 1953 and based in Berlin since 1988. A third-generation Butoh artist, she was a longtime member of Ariadone Company and later co-founded tatoeba Theatre Dance Grotesque. She also directed eX...it!, an international festival in Germany, from 1995 to 2019.

The workshop will stretch over 2 Days, from the 17. to the 18.09. Participation in only the second day, is sadly not possible.
